2. MyWinLocker Console
The MyWinLocker Console is for configuring MyWinLocker. You can change your Master Password, reconfigure your Yo-Safe, receive support, and activate extra MyWinLocker features.
How to open the MyWinLocker Console
To open the MyWinLocker Console, use one of the following methods:
- Double-click on the MyWinLocker desktop shortcut.
- From the Start Menu -> All Programs -> EgisTec -> MyWinLocker -> MyWinLocker.
- From the MyWinLocker system tray icon (next to the clock), right-click and select MyWinLocker Console.
*The Microsoft Windows “Guest” account (Microsoft Windows "Limited and Guest" accounts for XP) does not have enough access privileges to use MyWinLocker.
How to change the Yo-Safe Configuration
Select the Yo-Safe tab from the MyWinLocker Console:
- The Idle Protection function allows MyWinLocker to automatically close your Yo-Safe after your computer has been idle for a defined period of time. Clicking on the combo box will allow you to select your preferred idle time before activating auto-close. Selecting "Never" will cancel the Auto-close feature.
- The Yo-Safe Location setting will allow you to change the hard drive that is used to store your Yo-Safe.
- The Yo-Safe Capacity setting is how much storage space your Yo-Safe will contain. If you require more space to store files in your Yo-Safe you can increase the Yo-Safe capacity here.
- The Open/Close Yo-Safe option allows you to open or close Yo-Safe by selecting "Open" or "Close" option and pressing "OK".
How to change the Master Password
If your Master Password has been compromised, you can use the "Change Master Password" option on the MyWinLocker Console to change the Master Password. Once selected, a password-change window containing important information about the operation will appear.
To process this change, MyWinLocker will scan all of your disks to identify all MyWinLocker encrypted files and then update the files with the new Master Password. This may take a few minutes or longer and must not be interrupted.
Upon completion of the operation, a message will be displayed, showing the number of files processed and updated successfully. If there are any files that could not be updated during the process, you can run the "Retry File Update" option on the "Change Master Password" panel to continue updating the files with the new Master Password.
How to receive support
Clicking on the About tab, in the MyWinLocker Console will display some MyWinLocker support options.
- Press the Update button to check the EgisUpdate window for newer versions.
- Press the Support button to navigate to the support section of the MyWinLocker website. From here you will be able to read the MyWinLocker knowledge database or use the contact section to contact MyWinLocker customer support.
*Should you need to contact MyWinLocker Customer Service, please provide your version information that is listed in the Support tab. This will allow customer service to respond to your questions more quickly.
How to register your Master Password with your fingerprint (Optional features on selected models)
If the fingerprint user profile within your fingerprint software has been initialized, select the Fingerprint tab from the MyWinLocker Console:
- Click on “Register Master Password with Fingerprint”
- Enter the Master Password and change the Master Password associated with the enrolled fingerprints
The “Register Master Password with Fingerprint” link will not work until the fingerprint user profile has been initialized.
If the Master Password has already registered with Fingerprint, a message will display, showing “Master Password successfully registered with enrolled fingerprints.”
The "Fingerprint is not available" icon will be displayed when:
- Fingerprint sensor is not detected.
- Your fingerprint software is not installed.
- Your fingerprint software is not initialized.
- Fingerprint does not associate with Master Password.
- Under FingerNavigation mode.
