3. File Encryption
File and Folder Encryption provides convenient encryption and password protection for personal files. The MyWinLocker File Encryption features are integrated into the Windows Sidebar for quick and easy file encryption. Whether you are storing files on your computer for safe keeping or sharing files with your friends, family, and colleagues, MyWinLocker will look after your important files for you.
The MyWinLocker Sidebar Gadget (Vista, Windows 7)
After completing the initial MyWinLocker Setup, a MyWinLocker gadget will be added to the Windows Sidebar. The MyWinLocker gadget contains three sections: Encrypt File, Decrypt File, and Yo-Safe operation section.
If you cannot see the MyWinLocker Sidebar Gadget, you should follow these steps:
- Open the Windows Sidebar by going to the Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Sidebar (Vista) / Start Menu -> All Programs -> Desktop Gadget Gallery (Windows 7).
- Select the "+" button at the top of the Windows Sidebar gadget and drag and drop the MyWinLocker Gadget to your Windows Sidebar.
How to encrypt files
You can encrypt a file in the following ways:
- Select the "Encrypt File" option in the right-button context menu under the "MyWinLocker" menu item.
- Drag & Drop the file and/or folders on to the MyWinLocker Sidebar Gadget (Vista, Windows 7).
When the encrypt file option is selected, you will be prompted to:
- Encrypt with Master Password
- Encrypt with an Individual Password
- Encrypt as a self-decrypting file

*Encrypt with Individual Password can be useful for giving the file to another MyWinLocker user.
*You can use an enrolled finger swipe to replace the Master Password input. Finger swipe can be used only when your fingerprint software profile has been initialized and the Master Password has been registered with enrolled fingerprints.(Optional features on selected models)
How to decrypt files
You can decrypt an encrypted file in the following ways:
- Select the "Decrypt File" option in the right-button context menu under the "MyWinLocker" menu item.
- Double-click on the encrypted file to open the file as read only and keep the source file encrypted.
- Drag & Drop the file and/or folders on to the MyWinLocker Sidebar Gadget (Vista, Windows 7).
